The Real December 21, 2012 to Fear!

It is not going to be the world exploding, or a Sun flair creating an EMP that changes our world. It is not going to be a sudden unexpected event. The process or danger has been known for at least 30 years if not longer. We are already experiencing a small version of what is to come. We have been using our natural resources too fast: oil, water, space, energy and food. We have been destroying natural lands, polluting our air, water and soil, and pretty much killing off nature.  There are consequences for this, we know this. Or I should say I know this, I grew up knowing this, they told us in school a long time ago.

I think the world will reach peak oil production on December 21, 2012! As consumers we may never know that we have reached peak oil production. The large companies don’t want us to know. So there is not going to be a big announcement about it, we will just start feeling the pinch, until it becomes a strangle hold.

We already feel it at the gas pump, the grocery store, clothing stores and just about every aspect of our life. Prices are going up already, how much worse is it going to get? Almost everything is shipped from somewhere. If we have to reduce oil and other energy consumption how is our world going to change? The prophecy of 2012 is not destruction but change, real change in how we live. It makes sense to me that it referring to the changes we are going to experience in the next 20 years, or even 10 years as the oil becomes even scarcer, our energy sources will have to change, how we consume or use the energy will also have to change. Not just taking the bus instead of having a car, but everything from turning our lights off to where we get our food.

Things are going to change whether we want it to or not. We don’t have a choice any more. It is not going to be something as simple as reduce, reuse and recycle. We suddenly won’t have the things we have grown to expect as part of our standards in life. Change is coming! What we do now will determine a lot. We can hide from it, or start looking into real proactive change. You know, doing the things we have been told to do for the last 30 years.
Start investing in alternative energy creation such as wind power, now. We are in a position to do small things to make our lives better. We have to communicate with our Governments letting them know we want proactive, positive change now, not once it becomes a requirement. Let’s encourage the innovators now instead of bailing out the big companies that are trying to keep things the same.
